Tickets are now on sale for Strange Tales at Carew Castle in Pembrokeshire. Carew is a wonderful venue for some spooky storytelling and magic with some great legends from the past. Expect to hear about one former owner, Sir Roland Rhys and his pet Barbary ape called Satan, and the horrible circumstances in which they both met their maker. Tickets available from the Castle on 01646 651882.
Huge congratulations to Jake and Pippa as well as the stunningly talented cast of “Prodigy” for their unforgettable performance at the St James Theatre last week. And special mention must of to director Kate Golledge who masterminded a performance of West End standard with just two weeks’ of rehearsals. To quote one of the reviews: It’s actually easy to forget that this is a young cast – so grown up, believable and intelligent are their performances that you’d think they’d been doing this professionally for years.
Make a date with Elaine Paige on Sunday tomorrow afternoon at 2pm. The dj diva will be “Just Like You”, one of the songs from Jake and Pippa’s new musical Prodigy. The show is this year’s production by the National Youth Music Theatre whose “old boys” include Idris Elba, Matt Lucas, Eddie Redmayne and Sheridan Smith. I will be seeing will be seeing Friday night’s performance with Holly – can’t wait!
I will be supporting Llanelli’s new story-telling venture Spoken Word Saturday in the town this weekend. The venue for the monthly sessions is the old Zion Chapel just a few paces away from the Ffwrnes Theatre – and this month they will be adding a yurt somewhere nearby. Not sure if that’s for everyone to tell in but we shall see. Probably not something spooky from me this time – but it will be great to use this as a curtain-raiser for some very weird stories and magic at Llanelly House next month. Storytelling all kicks off at 3pm.
A couple of great night’s doing the Creepy Carmarthen tour this week – so, shame on you if you were the two couples who printed off duplicate coupons for Wednesday walk and passed them off as separate vouchers. I didn’t find out until I redeemed them with Groupon and discovered the fraud. The company are not happy and will be getting in touch with whoever bought the voucher (‘cos they know who you are) to make their displeasure known.
