Singing Psychic Steve Lewis Evans conducting a dowsing masterclass as part of last night’s Halloween Sleepover at the National Trust’s Newton House at Llandeilo. One of the Trust’s most haunted properties it is certainly not a place for the faint-hearted so many congratulations to the twenty or so brave souls who bedded down for the night in the haunted nursery, children’s theatre and other haunted hot-spots around the building. My part was giving everyone a guided tour the telling just some of the stories of ghosts and hauntings attached to this wonderful old house.
Five amazing days scaring the living daylights out of hundreds of families at Picton Castle is over for another year. Our youngest visitor was just four days old and somehow managed to slumber through all the screams, our oldest a gentleman in the his nineties accompanied by his wife and four octogenarians. Photo shows a pretty typical tour group smiling with relief once back in the daylight having survived three encounters with a truly terrifying Nasty Knight, the pitch-black Tunnel of Terror, Pestilential Portraits, Dancing Skeletons and all our other superb scares. Perfect weather, an amazing Scream Team and great help from the Picton staff made it another Halloween to remember.
They lurk in the Pumpkin Patch, deep in the heart of our Tunnel of Terror at Picton Castle, waiting to sing to the unwary. Find them between the Witch’s Lair and the place where the Naughty Knight loiters just ahead of the very, very Dark Corridor. Just two more days of Freaky Halloween Fun left – doors are open between 9 & 5 this Friday and Saturday.
A small selection of freaky friends waiting to make your acquaintance at Picton Castle this week. We ran another day of full house tours today starting at 11 and finishing with the final tour which began at 4.30. Feedback has been amazing – the only negative comment was “shame you didn’t have any zombies this year!” Maybe next time . . . if we can dig up enough volunteers from among the ranks of the living dead. Doors open Thursday, Friday and Saturday at 10 and the first tour will be at 11.
A great start to five days of family-oriented spookiness at Picton Castle near Haverford West. We had full tours all day through our Creepy Corridor – think Ghost Train but you walk through it rather than ride. It is packed with suitably strange vistas including the Spider’s Lair, Witches Laboratory, Singing Pumpkin Patch and not forgetting the wonderfully unsettling Dark Maze. Then on to the Haunted Castle for the Singing Portraits, Nasty Knight, and Strange Schoolgirl. Missed out today? The event runs every day through until Saturday from 10 to 5. Not sure how anyone has come to be confused but – the Halloween Creepy Carmarthen Tour takes place at Halloween – Monday 31st October. For some reason a number of people turned up last night expecting to take the walk but managed to be seven days early! There are two walks taking place on the 31st, at 7pm and 9pm. To book please call the Tourist Information Centre on 01267 231557. And sorry if you were confused for any reason.
Craig and his totally terrifying Scream Team are now ready and waiting to welcome their Halloween visitors to the wonderful Castell Coch on the outskirts of Cardiff. Sadly we weren’t able to set up our spooky props as the castle is running a children’s “fairy hunt” during daytime opening ( and we agree that our Eygptian mummy might be just a little upsetting for the wee ones) but there are all kinds of body parts and costumes secreted away waiting for the dark hours to come. Want to join in the fun? Saturday night looks to be fully booked but there are still places available on Thursday and Friday. More details available by clicking on THIS link.
They don’t come any creepier than Newton House, the National Trust’s horribly haunted Gothic treasure at Llandeilo. Twice featured on TV’s Most Haunted and home to both a White and Grey Lady, a malevolent butler, hospitable Baron, weird wheelchair and more strange staircases and cold corridors than you can shake a stick at! Amazingly there are still place available for their Halloween sleepover on Saturday night, October 29th. More details available from their booking office on 01558 824512. Oh – did I mention I will be giving everyone a tour of the house just to set the scene as well as carrying out some psychic experiments to sensitize the participants before they settle down for a night’s ghost hunting?
Picton Castle is looking lovely in the moonlight as we prepare for five days of “freaky family fun” beginning on Tuesday. Join us in the Corridor of Creepiness to experience the spiders’ lair, witch’s workshop, singing pumpkins and so much more. Full details to be found by clicking HERE.
